What is Wisdom Tooth Removal?

Wisdom tooth removal is a minor oral surgery to extract one or more of your third molars — also known as wisdom teeth — which typically appear between the ages of 17 and 25. In many cases, these teeth become impacted, grow sideways, or cause pain and crowding, making their removal necessary.

Treatment Process

Dental Examination & X-Ray

The dentist examines the tooth position and takes an X-ray to assess impaction and surgical needs

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia is administered to ensure a painless procedure. Sedation may be used in complex cases.

Tooth Removal

The dentist or oral surgeon removes the wisdom tooth. In some cases, the tooth may be sectioned into pieces for easier removal.

Stitching (if required)

The surgical site is closed with stitches to promote healing.

Post-operative Care Instructions

You'll receive detailed aftercare instructions for proper healing and pain management.

Why is Wisdom Tooth Removal Needed?

You may need your wisdom tooth removed if you have:

Severe pain or swelling at the back of the jaw

Partially erupted or impacted wisdom teeth

Frequent gum infections or abscesses

Damage or crowding of nearby teeth

Cysts or decay around the wisdom tooth
